Posted 5pm-ish Today is one

Posted 5pm-ish

Today is one of those "I hate working from home" days. It's cold, it's dark, it's boring, and the only human contact I've had has been in the form of cranky emails, complaining about the shoddy work of others. Not that the crankiness isn't justified, but... I'm fed up. A couple of hours ago I just disconnected completely and played Dope Wars. Mindless, and sorely needed. Then I returned to the wired world to find (surprise!) more ornery emails. Now I just want to take a hot shower (it's been one of those stinky, no shower days too) and veg on the couch. And "snuggle" with my honey for a while.

Stick a fork in me, I'm done.

Oh poor, poor blog, you have been ignored for too long. Time to come back to you. Journals never hold a grudge.

I know I have been promising a new look for thevieve.com for some time now, and I haven't forgotten about that. However, I am a lazy smeg, so you'll just have to wait a bit longer. Nyah!

I'm not going to write about any current events here. We all know what's going on, it scares the shit out of me and, for better or worse, I'm ignoring everything as much as possible. Perhaps this seems cowardly or escapist, but I listen to the news all day, and I'd rather talk about fun things. Respite is necessary, preferably in the form of the World Series or the South Park Halloween episode tonight. Yeehaw!

Emily and I are planning a crafts extravaganza for this weekend. On tap: candle making, Christmas cards, and whatever else we crafty ladies come up with. James and I took a trip to the new Michael's arts and crafts super store last week (like the Target that's in the same shopping center, we stumbled upon it entirely by accident) and it was incredibly fun. Impossible to find anything, but maybe that was just because I was agog over the multitude of crafty little tidbits at every turn. I can't wait to go again and browse. My heart's all a-twitter with anticipation!

I hope the crafting will take my mind off my hellish work week. We announced Awards last Thursday, and I worked 18 hours straight to get everything up... and, of course, there were still major issues. Then the database shat the bed sometime Friday night, and I worked all of Saturday fixing everything. And still, there's so much to do. I haven't caught up on my sleep yet, and I've gotten into the odious habit of waking up before the crack of dawn every day, only to work some more. No rest for the weary. Just thinking about it makes me want to take a very, very long nap...

On that note, back to work.
