So, as of 11:58pm last night I am 26 years old. A lot has happened since my last birthday, and even though much of it was painful in the most heart-wrenching ways imaginable, so many things in my life have changed for the better. A year, or maybe even 6 months ago, it would have been impossible for me to imagine the life I have now, the people I share it with, and the unbounded optimism I now have for the future. In retrospect, I know all of that agony helped me grow up and allowed me to discover (at least in part) the life I know I want for myself. Here's to a joyful, felicitous and, of course, vievish new year!
Dinner at The Elephant Walk was wonderful, I couldn't have asked for a better birthday dinner, or for a better dinner companion. The tuna in my Avocat Kanthor au Thon melted in my mouth, the bottle of Gigondas was luscious, the poulet was succulent, and dessert was appropriately decadent. I even have leftovers for lunch!
And as for presents, I love my new 69 Love Songs box set, and Time Bandits DVD. I can't wait to listen to the commentary by Terry Gilliam, Michael Palin, John Cleese, and David Warner! Maybe that will happen tonight after yoga. Also, thank you Morgan for asking, "What are you now, 19... 20...?" and for actually looking surprised when I said I was 26. Flattery always makes a great present, whatever the occasion.
Happy birthday to me!
Send all birthday wishes, love poems, "boy-are-you-ancient-now" taunts, and related hoohah here.
Tonight Lukas and I are going to The Elephant Walk for my birthday dinner, which should be lovely. I've wanted to go there for a while, and it's right down the street so I can gorge myself and then waddle back home without too much trouble.
Yesterday I bought myself some birthday presents at the New Balance outlet store and at Cambridge Naturals. Two new pairs of yoga pants, a yoga mat, some Ayurvedic massage oil (which I've decided smells like coconut donuts, yum!), and some other things that I won't post here... ;-) As Lukas pointed out, everything that comes from that store "smells like hippies," even the box of Computer De-Stress tea I bought him. Ah well, could be worse!
So I was talking about Six Flags, and I forgot to mention this picture. He's telling me his sharky secrets and as you can see from my expression I was vievishly delighted and suitably scandalized! Mon dieu! Unfortunately for you, gentle reader, my lips are sealed.
The pear sensation is sweeping the nation! Obviously this woman is hip to the trend, and so is SC Johnson (I just bought some yesterday, I couldn't resist). Pear-tastic!
I've been derelict in my blog updating duties lately, and I apologize to those of you who actually take the time to read this nonsense. So much to report... Thursday was the eagerly anticipated field trip to Six Flags New England and it certainly didn't disappoint. The Superman roller coaster is truly incredible-- we went on it twice, and I can't wait to do it again! We even got some pictures from the second run. They're pretty blurry, but fun to have nonetheless. All of the roller coasters were fantastic, and the lines weren't unreasonable either. Going during the week was definitely a good idea.
