Sexy, sultry, rhapsodic music... seemingly created by classically trained robots who habitually hit the hookah, playing a perfect accompaniment for some intense, slow-paced loving...
Imagine my surprise when I actually saw Air Sunday night at Avalon. No robots, just some serious-looking French humans wearing black t-shirts. With my curiosity about their appearance sated, I sat back down in the comfy couch by the upstairs bar, closed my eyes, and let the aural experience wash over me, like honey melting on a hot muffin.
This was the weekend for live music. Medeski Martin & Wood at the FleetBoston Pavilion Saturday night was more like lemon sorbet than hot honey: an energizing, refreshing vibe that left me ready to hit the next musical event at Vapor. Greg Blake put together a great set, the drinks were strong and cheap(ish), and I got to spend some quality time in the bathroom hanging out with Heather (my favorite evil dictator) and some FABulous drag queens. When the bathroom's almost as fun as the dance floor, you know you've hit the jackpot.
Speaking of Greg, check out his Sunrise - 2001 set. It's worth the download time, and then some. I'm listening to it right now, and it's bringing back some intense memories of the beach party. Good times.
The Vieve's message for the day: Let the music move you.
I've found a kindred spirit. She also hates raisins and has issues about picky eaters (see Bad Food For Thought). I couldn't have said it better myself.
Those fools at X10 need to quit it with all of those pop-up ads, they're driving me nuts. I even went to their site and clicked on the link that's supposed to turn them off for 30 days, but it didn't work. Irritating.
As I was enjoying a Peach Lemonade yesterday, musing on its ambrosia-like qualities, I began to think... Hey, wouldn't it be great if I could buy this stuff by the CASE?!
My prayers have been answered here. Hallelujah!
Tip of the Day: Do not wake the Vieve from a deep sleep by saying something like, "Is your car parked on the right side of the street? There's street cleaning today." This will throw her into a panic, since she has no idea what time it is, and they start towing at 8 AM, and oh my god, have they towed me already??? Aiiieeee!!! Bad bad bad. The Vieve has enough anxiety in her life without being roused from her slumber in this manner.
Moving right along...
I watched Star Trek: The Motion Picture yesterday. Wrath of Khan is still my favorite Star Trek movie, but I had forgotten how much I liked the first one, too. I guess I'm still a closet Trekkie at heart. Not like these dudes, though...
I spent a good amount of time yesterday trying to pin down the new layout for thevieve.com, but I don't think I'm much closer than I was on Sunday. I keep changing my mind. So picky. Plus, it's hard for me to visualize these things, I need to be able to see it before I can decide whether or not I like it. I'll keep at it though. Maybe I'll post some examples later, and ask for opinions.
Another gorgeous day in Cambridge. I love summer, so much.
I've finally put together a trip to Six Flags next week. Wheeee! It's been too long since my last roller coaster experience, which was in 1993 right after high school graduation. Roller coasters are funny things, equal parts terror and elation. They wake up all of those dormant, primal, adrenaline-producing brain bits and make you feel alive, to the nth degree.
Of course, for some people, they just make them puke.
I'm trying to make some radical changes to thevieve.com, and since I'm on the low end of the geek-itude scale, this is going to take some time.
Everything will look different: new pics, new layout, new pages... In the process of reworking the site, I'm teaching myself tables, cascading style sheets, and anything else that becomes important. I get frustrated easily, and distracted...
The Vieve moves at her own pace. I'll finish it, eventually.
