Anonymity

I know people read this. Not many, but some. I know that people I know and that people I don't know read this (mostly the former, I think). I know for sure of a few people who read it regularly, but the rest are a mystery.

I check my logs once in a while, but they're not very telling. Most of those are the a-hole comment spammers anyway (if you need "male enhancement" or want to play online poker, let me know), but who is c-66-30-9-162.hsd1.ma.comcast.net? Who is wsip-68-15-5-43.sd.sd.cox.net? I'd like to know.

I wonder who reads this, what they think, how I come across, if what they read changes how they think of me. If I'm a stranger, a childhood acquaintance, a new friend, an old friend. But this is the vast, (generally) anonymous Internet, and I'm basically flinging my small collections of words into the midst of an enormous, faceless mob. And who the hell knows what anyone thinks? And should I care? (I do. I try not to care too much, though, or I wouldn't write anything.)

So, I guess I'd like to know who you are. Yeah, I mean you. Yes, you. And you, too. Yeah, and you as well. Send me a comment and introduce yourself, so I have a better sense of at least a tiny subset of the faceless mob.

Posits on the Vieve..I know that what you place here helps me appreciate the bond we've gotten, especially recently. Right now, I sit at a place I haven't lived for 11 years, doubled over in nearly unbearable pain and jetlagged somethin' fierce, but I still took time out to get my fix on the Vieve. You've become part of my daily routine, girl. Now, tell me. How does that hit you upside the head?

I put the extreme tracking free code on my blog - and when I look up to see how people got to my blog - the majority were looking for a picture of Margaret Cho. Well, glad to be of service to someone I suppose.

I'm going to try to start writing more on my blog. It had started out all writing in Feb of 03 when i started it. BUt then with the ease of posting pictures when FLickr was launched I found myself flexing the other side of the brain more.

Every time I read a good book - I want to write more. And I start to write in the style of the book. Like after I read Dave Eggers's AHWOSG I found myself writing long rambling sentences with lots of footnotes. Now I am halfway through William s Burrough's Junky (which I found in a Catholic Church tag sale in Kennebunk, ME last weekend) so my writing now will be peppered with phrases like "rolling a lush" and such.

In the interest of full disclosure, hiya.

At the moment I'm c-65-96-168-205.hsd1.ma.comcast.net, but I'll doubtlessly be something different tomorrow.

I have this strange little sticky label on my shirt which says:

Hi, My Name Is: 69-168-84-206.albyny.adelphia.net

I guess I forgot to take it off after I left that party last night.

I'm cheridy. I'm new. I am a friend of aaron and to a lesser extent, toshok, but I have rarely left my house in the past year, so I'm no longer sure who I am at all.
